Nightswimming

If there's one song that makes me think about the happiest times of my time in High school, it's Nightswimming, by R.E.M. It's about a bunch of friends that go skinny dipping under a full moon, and, having an experience that parallels that somewhat, it's no surprise that the song represents that time and countless other amazing times I've had.

It came on my Spotify while I was playing my stupid computer game, signalling trains across the screen, diverging apart, coming together, running parallel, diverging again, crossing over each other. The frantic attention that I had devoted to playing the game suddenly was on the song and every memory I could conjure up. I thought of everything I'm going to miss. I fucking love being 18.

I even cried, for a minute perhaps. And then I smiled. It's been fun. And I'm not going to sit around being bitter. I'm going to enjoy every minute of being a kid that I have.
